Whilst cooking for Pre-School children, I noticed most children have issue with vegetables as they tend not to like it. Maybe due to a lack in taste and vegetables physical outlook. So i decided to come up with a simple vegetable puree meal for children which they can have a balance nutrients from vegetables and fruits without any dislike.
Prep time: 20 mins
Serving Portion: 3 serving portion
Ingredients
1. Brocoli- 100g
2. Carrot- 150-160g
3. Russet Potato- 200g
4. Pear- 250g
5. Turnip -300g
6. Sweet Corn- 300g
7. Water - 400ml
Cooking instruction
1. Diced all vegetables and fruits into the dice, whereas for brocoli cut the stem thinly for quicker cooking.
As for Sweet Corn, separate corn from stem.
2. Put 400ml to boil and pour in the mixed fruits and vegetables in to boil ( you may consider putting potato and carrot into boiling water first for 5 mins.before putting the rest in as potato and carrot need more time to soften). The potato will form the starch base for the children.
3. Boil vegetable till the texture soften.
4. Remove all diced vegetables and fruits with strainer and blend them in food processor, leaving the boiling broth in pot.
5. Return the blended puree.back to boiling broth , add pinch of salt for taste and you are ready to serve your child.
( you may consider adding children pasta or rice noodle for a more filling meal).
Storing instructions
Meal can be kept in chiller temperature 3 to 5 degrees C for 2 days for ideal consumption. Make sauce is fully cool down before storage
Ingredient that you can add on:
1. Slice fish
2. Diced Chicken
